Discover EKS clusters from Portworx BaaS

Portworx BaaS enables you to discover clusters that you added in the AWS cloud account and list them in Portworx Backup.

Prerequisites

For Portworx BaaS to discover EKS clusters, enable the below EKS permissions in AWS for IAM role:

  • eks:DescribeCluster
  • eks:ListClusters

For Portworx Backup to discover AWS EKS clusters, provide the same cloud credentials that you used to create the cluster or federate the cluster by providing access to another user. For more information, refer Enabling IAM user and role access to your cluster.

To discover your clusters in an AWS account:

  1. Select a service in the Portworx Services page.

Portworx BaaS redirects to the Portworx Backup -> Add Cluster page.

    Portworx Backup Add Cluster

  2. In the Add Cluster page -> Select Kubernetes Platform section, select the AWS cloud provider.

Note: If you select Others, then you can add clusters using the kubeconfig output. For more information about adding EKS clusters using kubeconfig, refer to the Add Cluster topic.
  3. In the Cloud Account Information section -> Cloud Account dropdown list, select the AWS account where your clusters are available.

  4. (Optional) To add cloud accounts, select Add New from the Cloud Account dropdown list, and enter the Account Name, Access Key, Secret Key, and Region:

    Discover Clusters

  5. Select Discover Cluster.

All your EKS clusters available on the cloud account and region appear in the Add Kubernetes Cluster page. For more information about adding the discovered clusters to Portworx Backup clusters page, see the next topic Add discovered clusters to Portworx Backup.
